Port Moody votes to implement climate change labels

A sincere ‘thank you’ from all of us at Our Horizon to the leadership in Port Moody. On October 27, 2015 Port Moody’s City Council passed the following motion:

WHEREAS there is evidence that combustion of petroleum products such as gas and diesel used in vehicles contribute to greenhouse gas emissions that affect natural systems in ways that are injurious to human health and to the natural environment upon which we all depend for food and life;

AND WHEREAS sea level rise resulting from greenhouse gas emissions will cause significant harm to coastal communities:

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT all vendors of retail petroleum products in Port Moody be required to provide warning labels on all pump handles, at the expense of the vendor;

AND THAT our staff work with Our Horizons as a resource for labels and labelling;

AND THAT staff report back on an implementation program such that this is in place in our community within the next six months.
